INQUA, the International Union for Quaternary Research, was founded in 1928 by a group of scientists seeking to improve understanding of environmental change during the glacial ages through interdisciplinary research. Today, more than 35 member countries, spread throughout the world, contribute to INQUA's vitality. INQUA's basic goal -- promoting improved communication and international collaboration in basic and applied aspects of Quaternary research -- is achieved mainly through the activities of its commissions and committees.

L'Union Internationale de Recherche Quaternaire, INQUA, a été fondée en 1928 par un groupe de chercheurs conscients du besoin d'une recherche pluridisciplinaire pour mieux comprendre les grands changements climatiques ayant eu lieu pendant 1'ère quaternaire. Actuellement l'INQUA réunit 40 organisations nationales dans le monde entier. L'objectif principal de l'INQUA est de promouvoir la collaboration internationale dans toutes les catégories de la recherche quaternaire. En principe, les activités sont organisées à travers de différentes commissions spécialisées.
